El gorrito tipo arlequín se le cae en la cara. El papá se lo pone derecho todas las veces que hace falta. Quiere la foto perfecta. Aunque el escenario no sea el perfecto. No queda nada en el estadio Pachencho Romero, apenas un puñado de rezagados, algo de viento y mucha decepción. Los brasileños ya se llevaron las medallas y la Copa América al vestuario. El samba se oye. Duele. Golpea. Pero el hombre, argentino hasta los dientes, insiste con la foto. Al cabo, será un recuerdo de Maracaibo. Ya habrá tiempo para explicarle al nene...
De esta ciudad, la Selección se lleva uno de los más duros cachetazos de su historia. Si la final sudamericana del 2004 había sido cruel, por el empate sobre la hora y la derrota en los penales, ésta fue impiadosa. Algo de crueldad podrá encontrarse en ese zurdazo de Riquelme que pegó en el palo y salió, en el 0-1. También en el dulce recorrido que había tenido el equipo y en este inesperado cierre. Pero, crueldad o no al margen, es necesario y honesto rendirse ante la evidencia: Brasil, aun siendo poco brasileño, fue superior. De principio a fin.
Nadie, ni Basile ni Riquelme ni Messi ni Mascherano ni la gente merecía este final. A pesar de lo que se dice, el fútbol es bastante lógico. Y si un equipo vive de figuras, a veces también muere con ellas. La Selección pensada por el Coco tenía su ADN en el control de Román, en el espíritu de Verón, en la recuperación de Mascherano y en la ilusión/realidad de Leo. Con apenas unos minutos de fútbol en el campo La Estancia, Basile intentó armar el equipo sobre la marcha, con el correr de la Copa. Un poco de orden, mucho de talento. Mucha paciencia y extrema necesidad de vivir de las individualidades. El recorrido venía de menor a mayor. Contra México había pasado la prueba del carácter, en el compromiso —hasta ahí— más áspero. Sin embargo, en el clásico de los siglos, en la revancha soñada, los hombres más importantes se levantaron mal. Riquelme no fue Zidane ni Messi, Maradonita. Sin ellos en onda, el resto acompañó en la letanía. Sólo Masche volvió a conmover y terminó siendo el mejor argentino del torneo.
La Selección había vuelto a enamorar. Y con sus mejores encantos. Era la peli del año. El técnico que volvía para sumar otra Copa, la tercera, para redimirse en parte del dolor del 94. Riquelme y su regreso, tras la renuncia, para terminar de conquistar a los esquivos. Verón, otro retorno, para poder resistir a cualquier archivo. Messi, para adueñarse del título del heredero. Ni en Hollywood lo hubiesen pensado mejor. Pero el final, por la final, es para lagrimear. Habrá que buscar un libretista que sepa contar por qué Brasil se renueva y la Argentina no. Por qué ni siquiera se le puede ganar cuando las estrellas no están de su lado. Por qué se adaptan y dejan de lado el jogo bonito contra los nuestros...
Se dijo: la derrota, dolorosa, no debe taparlo todo. Basile deberá tamizar y quedarse con lo positivo (Román, Leo, Mascherano). Los demás, como pasó tras el Mundial, deberán revalidar su condición de seleccionables. El Coco, con la Copa en manos enemigas, ya debe empezar a jugar Sudáfrica 2010. Y jugadores como Ayala ya lo dieron todo. No se guardaron nada. Más no tenían. Su ciclo está cerrado. De lo contrario, la nueva Selección no será posible. Así, algún día, se le podrá encontrar sentido a la foto de ese nenito de arlequín celeste y blanco...

Currais Novos - RN

Serras, picos, barragens, rios, açudes e lagoas vão injetar mais adrenalina à sua viagem pela Região do Seridó, com a prática de esportes radicais: o rapel, no Pico do Totoró, na Serra do Chapéu e na Pedra do Cruzeiro; e o montanhismo nas serras da Catunda, da Acauã e do Piauí. A Brejuí, uma antiga mina de scheelita (minério de tungstênio), hoje desativada, com 60 quilômetros de túneis e galerias, oferece um espetáculo de cores, proporcionado pelos filões do minério na rocha. As formações rochosas afloram com exuberância, tornando o município conhecido por suas diversas pedras, que são trabalhadas artesanalmente, revelando peças fascinantes. No artesanato, também se destacam a confecção de jarros ornamentais e filtros de barro e a fabricação de bolsas e tapetes de palha. A festa da padroeira do município, Nossa Senhora de Sant’Ana, em julho, é outro marco da cidade. Situada no Seridó Oriental, na divisa com o estado da Paraíba, Currais Novos tem 41 mil habitantes. Antiga aldeia dos índios canindés e janduís, seu nome deve-se à construção, pelo coronel Cipriano Lopes Galvão, de três currais no local, por volta de 1755, o que estimulou o povoamento. A temperatura média durante o ano é de 28º.

Em Caicó, rios, pedras, grutas e serras, como a Serra de São Bernardo, a Serra da Formiga, a Serra da Caridade e a Pedra da Baleia, são cenários perfeitos para o rapel, escalada, rali de motos, mountain bike, acampamentos, trilhas e trekking. Na cultura caicoense, destaca-se a Irmandade dos Negros do Rosário, criada em 1771, que até hoje comemora seus rituais com uma coreografia toda própria, utilizando lanças e danças tribais ao som de tambores seculares.
Destaque também para o artesanato, a Festa de Sant’Ana e o carnaval. Caicó carrega o título de “terra do bordado”, se sobressaindo internacionalmente pela qualidade de seus bordados. Depois de correr, passear e se extasiar com tanta beleza, é hora de provar a extraordinária carne-de-sol e os queijos de manteiga e coalho, além dos deliciosos doces e biscoitos caseiros.
Caicó é o maior município do Seridó e a sua povoação começou na Fazenda Penedo, em 1735. Foi elevada à condição de vila em 1788, sob o nome de Vila Nova do Príncipe. Em 1868 foi alçada à categoria de cidade, recebendo os nomes de Cidade do Príncipe (1868), Cidade do Seridó (1890) e, finalmente, Caicó (1890).

Living in this world, is that possible? One has to go to the office from nine until five – god knows why. You will answer it only when you have realised that thought is the central issue, that thought is always, under all circumstances, is fragmentary, because knowledge is fragmentary, there can be never complete knowledge. And then meditation is the total denial – ‘denial’ I am using in the right sense of the word – denial of the self, the ‘me’.
